Our New Journey with Antique Limo of Utah

Today, the team at VIP Limousine stepped back in time to 1936, the year of manufacture of Antique Limo of Utah’s beautiful Cadillac Fleetwood sedan. This machine is truly stunning inside and out! Operated by Bill and Brianna Platt, this company provides a truly unique service in northern Utah.

The owner, Bill, bought the vehicle and rebuilt it from the inside out, maintaining the image and feel of the decade. On the outside, it is standard classic Cadillac. It starts with the gleaming hood ornament atop the old-fashioned side-opening hood: outfitted with the original Fleetwood badging, it opens to reveal the throaty, beating heart of an engine, rebuilt to modern standards but keeping the traditional sound. Pearl white paint, shiny chrome, and radial whitewalls complete the exterior look with the original Cadillac wheels.

Then, Bill and Brianna revealed the real magic to us all inside the Fleetwood by opening the heavy suicide doors. This interior was unlike anything we had ever been in. The car has the original dashboard with the enormous gauges, simple controls, and polished wood veneer from edge to edge. The seats, door panels, and headliner are all in a posh deep red velvet which exudes luxury, especially when on the cushy, spring-loaded seats. The original door handles, window winders, interior lights and switches, and the wood veneer around the window frames were simply exquisite details.

Bill then took the time to show us the party pieces of the Fleetwood, which were custom-fitted: twin televisions behind a locking panel, and then below those behind another door were the head unit for the stereo and DVD player, coupled with champagne flutes and a bucket for ice. Few things are more indicative of luxury than hidden items for enrichment of the traveling experience.

Bill and Brianna then offered to take us for a ride. Now THAT was a treat. The glorious old engine roared to life, with Bill vigorously turning the large original steering wheel to maneuver us out of the parking lot…while explaining that the vehicle does not have power steering, making it a driving gymnasium. We were astonished by how easily it drove, too! It had no trouble keeping up with the traffic in Salt Lake, even passing a few other cars with ease. But you don’t normally drive a classic like that; we took the time to meander and simply cruise.

Combined with the cushy seats, great legroom, and the original suspension, we simply floated down the road. Bumps, undulations, and potholes didn’t upset the Fleetwood’s composure in any way, nor did we particularly notice them either. As Bill pumped through some light 1930s music, Brianna further set the mood by providing us with small brochures explaining some of the vehicle history and specifications from 1936, but this also included some cultural statistics and information from that year regarding costs of living and hit music. It was a seriously cool touch to an already unforgettable ride.

As chauffeurs, we’re not used to actually being driven ourselves, but we’re extremely grateful to Antique Limo of Utah for this cool experience. There’s nothing like a classy ride with presence, and this company definitely provides that experience! Bill and Brianna were great to us, and we immensely appreciated their time.

At VIP Limousine, we love developing relationships with other local companies inside and outside of the transportation industry. Not only do we eat at local restaurants, such as the El Paisa Grill where we met with them today, but we also love to experience what a local business such as Antique Limo of Utah can provide. With a beautiful vehicle and a unique product, we look forward to developing and continuing a relationship with our new friends in the limo business!

Welcome to our first Throwback Thursday at VIP Limousine! This is where we share and write about past experiences. While Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, our team wants to examine something which is at the heart of our business: prom!

VIP Limousine Prom

The adults reading this page may remember their own prom dances during high school, with the sharp suits and gorgeous gowns. Style flies high at prom, and so does the fun! A night of dancing and good memories to be had, and a highlight of a night during those developing years.

For any high schoolers: we’d love to take you from start to finish! Let us add to your experience and memories. Why? Allow us to explain.

At VIP Limousine, we also have the opportunity to be a part of those fun nights. We have driven countless groups of juniors and seniors, with their dates eager to get going for pictures, dinner, and dancing. Some of them decide to up the ante and choose a limousine for their special evening out and about!

Imagine waiting at the house, a church, or other location, only to come outside to see a long, shiny limousine. The chauffeur stands next to the vehicle, greeting you and your guests, and taking pictures. Then, the door opens to reveal the luxurious interior, ready to coddle everybody in comfort and safety en route to dinner and dancing.

What are some of the benefits of using a limousine service for prom? There are several!

  1. None of the students have to drive the long distance. This enhances safety on the road and throughout the night.
  2. Our drivers are trained to maneuver long, tall, and heavy vehicles with ease in traffic and the streets. You don’t have to worry about finding parking and managing the logistics. We’ll take care of it for you!
  3. You and your guests can enjoy your smooth ride inside with each other’s company, music, back-seat gadgets, and views of your surroundings.

Our prom-appropriate fleet includes the following vehicles.

  • Lincoln Town Car stretch limousine. The classic choice, it can safely escort up to 10 people in comfort, and is fitting for any event. The exterior of this vehicle is white.
  • Mercedes-Benz Sprinter limousine. We have two of these vehicles in our fleet. Built by Executive Coachbuilders, VIP Limousine was the first transportation company in Utah to acquire these beauties. With the ability to carry up to 14 passengers, the tall interior enables occupants to stand for the best ingress and egress. The exterior of both vehicles is black.
  • Cadillac Escalade stretch limousine. Out-bling the blingiest with this chrome-plated monster. The rear doors open to reveal a commodious 18-passenger interior, color-keyed for an upscale look. The exterior of this vehicle is black.
  • Hummer H2 stretch limousine. If you’re seeking the biggest of the biggest, look no further than our dual fleet of Hummers. Few vehicles are more iconic and imposing on the road, and when fitted with a classic stretch, add immense presence. These also have spacious interiors and large doors for a sumptuous atmosphere. We have a choice of 18- or 20-passengers lengths in our fleet. The exterior of the 18-passenger Hummer is black; the exterior of the 20-passenger Hummer is white.

From start to finish, and everywhere in-between, prom should be a special occasion. We at VIP Limousine look to ensure and enhance this experience with our services. Not to mention, too, our drivers enjoy interacting with high school groups and make sure they have fun from beginning to end.
